Ordinary mornings can sometimes turn into extraordinary tests of courage. Such was the case in Bellevue, Washington, when school bus driver Stewart O’Leary calmly guided his bus to safety after a piece of debris struck the vehicle’s windshield. On board were the North Creek High School girls basketball team and their coaches, who credit O’Leary’s composure with preventing a frightening situation from becoming a tragedy. The story quickly spread through the community, not only for the near miss but for the powerful example it set of professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to student safety.
